Narrated Abu Huraira (radi Allahu anhu): The Prophet (sal Allahu alyhi wa sallam) said, "He who commits suicide by throttling shall keep on throttling himself in the Hell Fire (forever) and he who commits suicide by stabbing himself shall keep on stabbing himself in the Hell-Fire." – (Bukhari: Book 2: Volume 23: Hadith 446) Many of our brothers and sister today, due to difficulties in their life consider suicide as an easy option to get rid of them. We need to understand that calamities are nothing but a test from Allaah and a blessing to get close to Him in His worship for our beautiful Aakhira. Sabr (Patience) is a distinguishing character of a believer, at its foundation is a great wisdom, and it is only after some time does a person realise its true effects. Shaykh Al Islam Ibn Tayyimiyah said: "A calamity that makes you turn to Allaah is better for you than a blessing which makes you forget the remembrance of Allaah." So my dear brothers and sister when a calamity befalls you, when you face a difficulty, when you no one seems to help you, when you find no way, remember there is always one way – Turn to Allaah, make Du'a to Him and keep patience, and He will provide for you from the sources you had never expected.
